Insurance Journal Mourns the Loss of a Friend and Co-worker
Matthew Wells, marketing manager of the Insurance Journal West & Texas, died after a long battle with brain cancer on March 2, 2002. Matt, the son of Mark Wells, publisher of the IJ/West & Texas, was born in Pasadena on January 23, 1970 and attended Flintridge Preparatory School and University of California at Riverside. He was a treasured friend and co-worker at the IJ. You may have met Matt at various “I” Day and industry conventions.
Matt is survived by his father Mark and his wife Gayle Wells, his mother Marshalle Wells, brother Mark Britton Wells (Britt), Grandmother Travis Crilly, Uncles Gordon and Duncan Forgey and nephews Duncan and Hayden Wells.
A memorial celebration will be held at the Athenaeum at California Institute of Technology (626-395-8200), 551 S. Hill, Pasadena, CA, on Saturday, March 9th at 11am. Refreshments and lunch will be served following the service.
A memorial scholarship fund has been established at Flintridge Preparatory School. Donations can be sent to the Matthew Wells Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Flintridge Preparatory School, 4543 Crown Avenue, La Canada Flintridge, CA 91011.
