IIAA Hosts Third Biennial Insurance Campaign Institute
Twenty-five candidates for state and local public offices came to Washington, D.C. recently to learn how to run a successful election campaign at the third biennial Independent Insurance Agents of America (IIAA)/Future One Insurance Campaign Institute.
The candidates-all insurance professionals-are seeking election to their state legislature (either House or Senate) or local offices, such as city council or school board.
“The Insurance Campaign Institute equips insurance agents and other industry professionals for the rigors of running a successful campaign for elective office, be it the U.S. Congress or town alderman or any other public office,” IIAA CEO Robert A. Rusbuldt, said. “As community-minded citizens, agents and brokers view public service as a logical extension of their everyday work in their cities. This IIAA/Future One workshop prepares them for running a successful political campaign by exposing them to the expertise of professionals who help many of Washington’s top political leaders with their elections.”
During the day-and-a-half campaign school, the insurance professionals learned campaign tips from a number of political professionals-from campaign managers to fund-raisers to media experts.
Other Insurance Campaign Institute sessions covered campaign fund-raising, volunteer organization and grassroots campaigning, direct mail strategies, campaign research, campaigns and the Internet, message delivery and communicating with voters, paid media and campaign advertising, and public events.
