Sen. John McCain Scheduled to Speak at IIAA Conference

Republican John McCain, former Presidential candidate and current Arizona Senator, will speak at the Independent Insurance Agents of America’s (IIAA) 25th Annual National Legislative Conference. McCain will address 800 insurance agents in Washington, D.C. on May 3rd, 2001 during a breakfast session.

The conference, held at the Grand Hyatt Washington from May 2-4, is considered the insurance industry’s largest and most-effective legislative gathering. Hundreds of independent agents and brokers travel to the nation’s capital to meet with their congressional representative during this week.

McCain currently serves as chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee and works to advance the need to promote competition and government deregulation in industries that are imperative to the growth of the nation’s economy. McCain’s committee has jurisdiction over an issue key to independent agents and brokers as well as the insurance industry as a whole: natural disaster reform.

Robert A. Rusbuldt, the IIAA’s CEO, said McCain is a champion of small business and is focused on the need to create an environment that is conducive to making entrepreneurs successful.
