Bus Crash Involving Iowa College Baseball Team Leaves One Dead, 32 Injured
A bus carrying an Iowa community college baseball team crashed and overturned in a ditch on Wednesday, Feb. 11, killing one person and injuring 32 others onboard.
The crash involved a bus carrying Iowa Lakes Community College baseball team and no other vehicles. Authorities said that shortly after 11 a.m. the bus went off the roadway on Highway 4 near Twin Lakes in Calhoun County and overturned in a ditch.
Those injured were transported either by air ambulance or ground ambulance to various hospitals in the area, authorities said.
The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol and Calhoun County officials.
The Iowa Lakes Community College baseball team was traveling to Harrison, Ark. to face Northern Arkansas College in a series beginning Feb. 12. The series has been canceled.
Iowa Lakes Community College is located in Ethersville, which is about 70 miles north of the crash site.
