Branch Launches Personal Lines Insurance Discount Program in Missouri

June 18, 2020

Columbus, Ohio-based technology-based personal lines insurance provider, Branch, has launched its My Community Discount program in Missouri. Through the program, clients can “save on their insurance premiums by inviting friends and family to quote with and join the Branch community,” the company said.

Branch sells home and auto insurance with an emphasis on bundling the two. On its website, Branch describes itself as an insurance agency “selling insurance on behalf of General Security National Insurance Company (GSNIC),” which is owned by SCOR reinsurance. In addition to home and auto, the company also sells renters insurance and umbrella insurance that “can be attached to an Auto policy.”

“When friends quote, both clients and friends receive Amazon gift cards and when a friend joins the Branch community, clients and their friends receive premium discounts up to 50% off their insurance,” the company said in an announcement.

Branch says through its community empowerment business model, it is able to give clients “the tools they need to continually lower their own prices, saving clients an average of $517 per year.”

Branch is currently available in five states (Arizona, Illinois, Missouri, Ohio and Texas) with plans to expand nationally. Branch Insurance is underwritten by General Security National Insurance Co. (GSNIC), which is headquartered in Columbus, Ohio.

In addition to offering personal lines of insurance, Branch operates SafetyNest, a non-profit aimed at assisting individuals in the states in which it operates that suffer damage for which they are underinsured. SafetyNest is funded by a portion of the premium payments of Branch customers.

Branch was founded in 2018 by insurance veteran Steve Lekas and tech entrepreneur Joe Emison.
