HDI Adds to U.S. Engineering, Construction Divisions

HDI Global SE has appointed John Schossler has been appointed assistant vice president, Casualty Construction manager, based in Chicago.

Schossler will lead all efforts in the development of this segment by cultivating deeper relationships with producers and accelerating HDI’s market presence throughout the U.S.

Schossler joins HDI from CNA, where he most recently was an underwriting director in their National Accounts unit, handling some of the company’s largest and complex construction writings. Prior to CNA, John worked at Travelers and St. Paul Fire & Marine Insurance Co. He holds the CPCU and CRIS professional insurance designations.

Casualty construction risks will primarily be written under HDI’s newly formed excess and surplus lines subsidiary, HDI Specialty Insurance Co. (HDI Specialty).

HDI also announced that Andre Youngblood, senior engineering lines underwriter, will oversee all underwriting efforts for the Midwest region. Youngblood started his commercial insurance career with The Chubb Group of Insurance Cos. Most recently, he was the Midwest region Package and Small Business Director for Allianz Global Corporate and Specialty.

Frank Tomasello joined the company as senior engineering lines underwriter, responsible for all underwriting across the East Coast. Tomasello joins HDI from Seneca Insurance Co., where he was most recently a lead property underwriter, handling all new and renewal business within the Midwest.

HDI added Ryan Hornbeck, as senior engineering lines underwriter. He will lead all underwriting efforts across the Pacific Northwest. Hornbeck brings over eighteen years of insurance and reinsurance experience, most recently as an Executive Underwriter for Allianz’s Midwest region. Prior to that, he underwrote property facultative reinsurance for XL Catlin and Gen Re.
