Ohio Manufacturer Fined $131K for Workers’ Injuries

A central Ohio wire manufacturer where two workers were injured in separate accidents has been cited for 25 safety violations by the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

OSHA cited Columbus-based ITC Manufacturing for violating federal workplace safety and health regulations by failing to protect the workers from machine operating parts. The agency also proposed $131,000 in fines.

OSHA says both workers had part of their left middle fingers amputated this year just months after another worker at the facility was electrocuted when he touched live wires.

The agency also says it found electrical and respiratory hazards and falls due to lack of guardrails and open-sided floors in addition to amputation hazards and other problems.

ITC Manufacturing didn’t immediately return calls to its offices.
