Professional Casualty Association Enters Michigan Medical PL Market

Medical professional liability insurer, Professional Casualty Association (PCA), has been approved for operations by the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services as a licensed and admitted carrier, effective Nov. 2, the company announced.

The company’s products will be offered through an exclusive set of retail and wholesale producer relationships. Open House rollout meetings are taking place now through mid-December 2015 in Metro Detroit, Grand Rapids and Travers City.

For the past 13 years, PCA has been authorized to write medical malpractice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

PCA liability insurance highlights include:

• Coverage options: $100,000/$300,000 – $200,000/$600,000 – $500,000/$1,000,000 claims-made insurance policies
• Allied coverage: midwives, physician assistants and nurse practitioners
• Defense outside the limits
• Tail coverage options available
• Physicians’ full consent to settle

PCA’s efforts will be led by Jonathan C. Lanesky, PCA vice president of Marketing/Claims, and Sadhna Chopra, vice president of Underwriting. Combined, they represent more than 40 years of medical professional liability industry experience in the Michigan market.
