Winter Wheat Crop Insurance Offered to All South Dakota Farmers
Ag producers across South Dakota will now be able to insure their winter wheat crop for 2016.
State Agriculture Secretary Lucas Lentsch says the U.S. Department of Agriculture recently decided to expand crop insurance coverage for winter wheat in all South Dakota counties for the next year’s crop.
Lentsch says producers in the state rely on an effective and affordable crop insurance program to manage risk. He says the USDA’s decision gives producers an additional tool when making planting decisions.
Producers wanting to insure their 2016 crop must sign up before Sept. 30.
