Travelers Opens $200M Data Center in Nebraska
A New-York based insurance firm has opened a $200 million data center in Nebraska’s Sarpy County, the latest of such facilities built in the area for companies like Fidelity, Yahoo, Cabela’s and Cosentry.
Gov. Pete Ricketts and other officials celebrated the opening of Travelers Cos.’ new data center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 11. The Omaha World-Herald reports the facility is expected to employ about 30 people, most in technology jobs.
The center will be able to manage all of the company’s technology systems, including critical IT infrastructure functions. Construction on the 183,000-square-foot building began around two years ago.
The insurance group operates one other data center in the U.S. in Norcross, Ga.
