Indiana AG Recovers $18M in Unclaimed Insurance Benefits
Some Indiana residents may be receiving life insurance money they weren’t aware they were entitled to.
Attorney General Zoeller announced the state has recovered $18 million in uncollected insurance benefits through agreements reach with American International Group, John Hancock, MetLife and Prudential Financial.
The agreements come in the wake of an audit that found more than 20,000 unreported insurance accounts. Zoeller says the $18 million is only a portion of the money expected to be uncovered as the state continues to work with the auditor. Zoeller says more than $3 million in life benefits already have been returned to Indiana residents.
The funds that have been turned over to the state are posted online at www.IndianaUnclaimed.gov .
