Board Suspends License of Ex- Illinois Workers’ Comp Arbitrator

An attorney disciplinary board has suspended the license of a former workers’ compensation arbitrator citing misconduct.

The Belleville News-Democrat reports that Jennifer Carril formerly known as Jennifer Teague has received a two-year suspension from the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission.

Carril’s attorney, Jim Williams, says he doubts his client will appeal.

The panel cited Carril’s attempt to hide a high-profile workers’ compensation case from the news media, calling it “very disturbing and clearly unacceptable.”

The case involved former Illinois State Police Trooper Matt Mitchell, who pleaded guilty to reckless homicide and reckless driving for the 2007 crash that killed two teenage sisters. Authorities say Mitchell was driving 126 mph when the crash occurred. He later filed a claim for worker’s compensation for his crash injuries.
