Commissioner: North Dakota Has 2nd Lowest Auto Insurance Premiums

Insurance Commissioner Adam Hamm reports that North Dakotans are paying the second lowest auto insurance premiums in the nation.

The ranking was indicated in the “Auto Insurance Database Report 2008/2009,” recently released by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.

North Dakota’s 2009 combined average auto insurance premium of $650 is significantly lower than the national average of $901. According to the report, Iowa is the least expensive state, followed by North Dakota and South Dakota.

Louisiana, the District of Columbia and New Jersey rank as the most expensive locations for auto insurance. Combined coverage is the total cost of liability, collision and comprehensive coverage for a vehicle.
