Indiana State Fair Board Hires Risk Assessment Firm
The Indiana State Fair has hired a risk assessment firm in the wake of last month’s deadly stage collapse at the fairgrounds.
State Fair Board Executive Director Cindy Hoye said that Venue Solutions Group has been hired to improve the performance of all fairground buildings and facilities. The announcement was made during state fair commission’s regularly scheduled meeting.
At that meeting, commission Chairman Andre Lacey updated the panel on the investigations that are underway into the Aug. 13 collapse of stage rigging in high winds as fans awaited a concert by country band Sugarland. Four people died at the scene and three others died later.
Lacy told the commission the investigations will lead to “a better fair” and a “better fairgrounds.”
