University of Iowa Tests Flood Wall for Art Building
University of Iowa officials say they’re pleased with how a temporary flood wall held up during a test.
The flood wall was erected outside of Art Building West on the Iowa City campus. The building was heavily damaged in a 2008 flood and underwent $11 million in renovations. It’s expected to reopen in January.
Dan Heater, director of building and landscape services, told KCRG-TV (http://bit.ly/oR0itJ ) that the aluminum wall is designed to be erected in two or three days but it can be assembled quicker if necessary.
He says it’s good to know the wall will hold up in an actual flood.
