North Dakota Insurance Agent Accused of Theft

Bond has been set at $17,500 for a Minot, N.D., insurance agent facing a felony theft charge.

State Insurance Commissioner Adam Hamm says 57-year-old Alan Henning allegedly stole more than $800,000 by obtaining unauthorized loans and writing unauthorized checks to himself. He also is accused of removing records from his employer, West McLean County Mutual Insurance Co.

State insurance examiners discovered the alleged thefts during a routine audit.

Henning faces up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted. He did not immediately return a telephone call seeking comment.
