Kansas Insurance Chief Opposed to Interstate Health Insurance Options
Kansas Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger has joined colleagues from two other states in opposing interstate health insurance options.
Praeger, along with state insurance commissioners from Oklahoma and West Virginia, warned that interstate options could increase costs and destabilize local markets.
Jane Cline of West Virginia is president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners; Kim Holland of Oklahoma is secretary-treasurer; Praeger is chairman of its Health Insurance and Managed Care Committee.
They maintain that interstate health insurance options would allow insurance companies to circumvent state laws and mandates.
