Michigan Shuts Down Northville Agency

November 24, 2009

Michigan officials have ordered a Northville insurance agency, Henrickson Hoppens Agency, to immediately close down, accusing it of selling insurance and issuing insurance certificates without a license.

The order extends to agents Germaine and Stephen Hoppens, whose licenses had been previously revoked, according to officials.

The order includes a complaint that the agency accepted more than $4,000 in premium for a professional liability policy it said was with Lloyd’s of London. Lloyd’s, however, said no policy had been placed, officials claim.
