Grand Forks, N.D., Flood Insurance Map Now Available
Grand Forks County, N.D., residents are getting a look at a proposed new flood insurance rate map.
Zoning administrator Bev Collings says it’s the first major change in the map since 1977. She says it’s long overdue. Officials asked for changes in 2007, after the city’s dike system was finished.
Collings says a remapping process takes years and the new map likely won’t be final until early next year. More public meetings are planned.
Collings says the new map won’t include information from flooding this spring. She says most of the new material was collected between 2003 and 2006.
