Rebuild Iowa Office Announces Disaster Aid Figures
Iowa state officials say more than 39,800 Iowans have registered for disaster assistance, and funding for Iowa residents and governments impacted by severe storms and flooding continues to increase.
According to the Rebuild Iowa Office, the state has gotten about $1.3 billion in funding. Eighty-five counties are eligible for the federal assistance.
The money includes $85 million that will be used for Jumpstart Iowa, a housing and small business recovery initiative. It is designed for homeowners and businesses to get forgivable loans to assist repair homes, help pay mortgages and rebuild businesses.
