Hamm Begins First Campaign for North Dakota Insurance Commissioner

North Dakota’s Republican insurance commissioner is starting his first campaign for the job.

Adam Hamm was appointed as insurance commissioner last October. He replaced Jim Poolman, who resigned to start his own insurance consulting business.

North Dakota GOP convention delegates have endorsed Hamm to run for his first elected term.

The 36-year-old Hamm is a former Cass County prosecutor and private attorney in Fargo. He’s making his first run for statewide office.

North Dakota Democrats are picking their candidate for insurance commissioner at their convention in Grand Forks next weekend. The only announced candidate is Fargo state Rep. Jasper Schneider.
