Fargo City Commission Approves $2 Million Settlement with State University
The Fargo City Commission has approved a $2 million settlement with North Dakota State University for damage from a storm that flooded the Fargodome in 2000.
School officials said the campus suffered heavy damage when rainfall runoff got into the dome and flowed through a steam tunnel that connects the dome to the university. NDSU sued the city in 2002.
Under the agreement approved Monday, the city’s insurer will pay NDSU $2 million, and the university will release the city from all claims related to the flooding.
A judge earlier awarded $3 million to NDSU, but the city appealed the case to the North Dakota Supreme Court. The settlement was reached before the court ruled on the case.
