N.D. Pulls Agent’s License

North Dakota Insurance Commissioner Jim Poolman has revoked the insurance license of Williston agent, Keith T. Hapip. The revocation was based on Hapip’s criminal convictions, as well as allegations of misconduct in his insurance practices.

According to the North Dakota Department of Insurance, Hapip was convicted of Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Class C Felony, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Class A Misdemeanor, and is currently serving a two-year sentence for the criminal convictions. Hapip was also accused of forging clients’ signatures on insurance applications and mishandling insurance premiums.

In revoking Hapip’s license, Poolman commented, “These are serious violations of state law, proving him to be unfit to hold a license in this state.” Pointing out that “selling insurance in North Dakota is not a right, it is a privilege,” Poolman added that Hapip “no longer has that privilege.”
