Business Moves: Oneglobal Broking Acquires LATAM Reinsurance Brokers
Oneglobal Broking, the London-based international insurance and reinsurance broker, has acquired LATAM Reinsurance Brokers Corp., an independent reinsurance broker headquartered in Panama City, Panama.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
The acquisition marks a further milestone in Oneglobal’s strategic growth across Latin America, strengthening Oneglobal’s footprint in Panama and reinforcing its commitment to the Central American and Caribbean markets, the company said.
The LATAM RE name will be phased out as the company becomes fully part of the Oneglobal Broking brand.
LATAM RE was founded in 2008 and is duly licensed by the Superintendencia de Seguros y Reaseguros de Panamá. The firm works closely with insurers and reinsurers across the region, providing tailored reinsurance solutions with a strong technical and relationship-driven approach, deepening Oneglobal’s reinsurance capabilities in one of the most dynamic markets in Latin America.
The team at LATAM RE brings established reinsurance expertise across a broad range of business lines, including facultative, aviation, marine, property/casualty, construction, surety, and power, as well as financial lines and specialised and structured risks.
The company will remain in Panama City under the leadership of original founder and CEO, Thomas Julio Arosemena Callan, who will take on the title country head – Panama & Regional Business Development Lead (Central America). Arosemena will report into José Miguel, CEO of Oneglobal Broking (LATAM region).
“We are delighted to welcome Thomas and his team to Oneglobal. Their technical strength and long-standing client relationships across Latin America align perfectly with our growth strategy and our commitment to combining global reach with local expertise,” commented Miguel.
“This acquisition reinforces our reinsurance offering and our investment in the region, and it is part of a wider ambition to build a leading reinsurance platform across Latin America. We see significant opportunity ahead and look forward to building it together.”
“The acquisition of LATAM RE represents a significant step in strengthening Oneglobal’s presence across Central America,” according to Ernesto de Lima, CEO of Oneglobal Broking Colombia and Central America.
“Panama is a strategic market for our regional growth plans, and by combining LATAM RE’s strong local expertise with Oneglobal’s global capabilities, we are better positioned to deliver specialist solutions and greater value to clients across this region,” de Lima added.
“Joining Oneglobal is an exciting step forward for our team and our clients. For more than 15 years, we have built LATAM RE on technical expertise, trust, and strong relationships across the region,” Arosemena said. “Becoming part of Oneglobal allows us to offer our clients direct access to global reinsurance markets and the resources of an international broking group, while retaining the local knowledge and personal service that have always defined us.”
