Markets/Coverages: Rokstone’s Athena Cyber Division Launches Supply Chain Extension
Rokstone, the London-based specialty re/insurance managing general agent (MGA), announced that its new Athena Cyber Division has launched a customer and supplier supply chain disruption extension.
The solution enhances total supply chain security, covering losses arising from cyberattacks affecting both an insured’s suppliers and customers, at a time when companies face increasing exposure to losses across interconnected supply chains. The product is offered globally, confirmed a Rokstone representative.
Backed by $10 million A-rated Lloyd’s capacity, this solution marks a step-change in approach for a market that has been behind the curve when it comes to supply chain cyber exposures, the MGA said in a press statement.
Unlike traditional contingency business interruption cover, Rokstone Athena’s cyber supply chain extension responds where a cyber-attack on a key supplier prevents an insured from operating, or where an incident affecting a major customer prevents them from purchasing an insured’s goods/services.
The security of global supply chains has never been more critical, Rokstone said, noting that research suggests 61% of organizations have experienced a supply chain breach, with almost a third of those affected encountering operational disruption, financial loss, and regulatory fines.
Recent high-profile incidents such as the attack on Jaguar Land Rover highlight the devastating impact of supply chain vulnerability, the company said, explaining that supply chain vulnerability is a systemic risk requiring specialist underwriting expertise and an advanced data-driven approach.
One of only two extensions like it existing in the market today, this is exactly what Athena Cyber was designed for – supporting the complex and evolving cyber exposures inherent in today’s increasingly AI-powered interconnected digital world.
Led by Debbie Hobbs, Rokstone Athena Cyber is an all-female underwriting team launched in July 2026 as a specialist underwriting proposition bringing together an experienced technical team, strong carrier backing, and agile digitally enabled service for a broad range of SME, mid-market, and large corporates operating in a fast-moving cyber risk environment.
“Our new extension recognizes that cyber events disrupt not only an organization’s own systems, but also the wider commercial relationships on which they depend,” commented Debbie Hobbs, president and head of Cyber at Rokstone Athena, in a statement.
“This is particularly true of SME’s, who are generally less able to limit the impact of third-party incidents. Rockstone Athena is proud to take the lead in addressing this issue and helping businesses worldwide enhance supply chain resilience,” Hobbs added.
Rokstone is one of the world’s largest MGAs, with offices in the UK, Europe, USA, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
