This edition of International People Moves details claims appointments at Aon and Canopius.
A summary of these new hires follows here.
Aon Promotes Navas as Chief Claims Officer for EMEA
Insurance broker Aon plc has appointed José María Navas as chief claims officer for EMEA, effective immediately.
In this role, Navas leads the firm’s claims organization across EMEA, overseeing strategy, advocacy and claims preparation capabilities to support clients in navigating an increasingly complex claims environment. He reports to Luca Tassarotti, head of Commercial Risk for EMEA.
Navas brings nearly 25 years of experience with Aon, most recently leading claims in Spain, along with deep expertise in claims advisory, including advocacy, preparation and operations. During his tenure in Spain, Navas was instrumental in developing enhanced claims servicing capabilities to support clients through complex and large-scale losses, while strengthening insurer relationships and operational delivery.
As part of his remit, Navas will help further develop Aon’s claims capabilities across EMEA, including the adoption of Aon Claims Copilot, the firm’s recently expanded global claims platform. Combining claims data, analytics and digital claims management tools, the platform supports colleagues in delivering more consistent, insight-led for outcomes for clients through the claims lifecycle.
“José María’s appointment reflects our continued investment in delivering strong claims outcomes for clients across EMEA,” said Tassarotti. “His experience and leadership will advance how we support clients across the risk transfer lifecycle, helping them navigate complexity with greater confidence.”
Canopius Taps Hiscox’s Parry as Group Chief Claims Officer
Canopius Group, the London-based specialty and property/casualty re/insurer, announced the appointment of Steve Parry as group chief claims officer, further strengthening its executive leadership as the group continues to scale its international platform.
Parry will join Canopius Groups’s leadership team and will report to Neil Robertson, Canopius’ group chief executive officer. In August, Parry will join Canopius from Hiscox where he served as group claims director.
He also held senior claims leadership positions at AIG and ACE/Chubb. His extensive global experience includes leading complex, multi-territory claims operations and a strong track record of transformation governance and operating model change.
“Claims is fundamental to our proposition at Canopius – it is where our expertise is tested, our promises are kept and our culture is most visible to customers and brokers,” Robertson commented. “As we continue to grow across all four of our regions, it is critical that our claims capability is forward‑looking, customer focused, increasingly AI‑enabled and fully integrated into how we underwrite, manage risk and deploy capital.”
