Markets/Coverages: Marsh Risk Expands Nimbus Facility for Major Data Center Projects
Insurance broker Marsh Risk, a business of Marsh, announced the addition of significant capacity to Nimbus, its large-scale data center construction insurance facility.
Nimbus now offers limits up to US$2.7 billion – inclusive of delay in start-up and business interruption coverage – for major data center construction projects in the UK, US, Canada, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
Launched in June 2025 as the first insurance facility of its kind for large-scale data center construction projects, Nimbus supports the transformative power of digital infrastructure development while mitigating specific risk exposures and providing greater financial protection for Marsh Risk’s clients and their capital providers.
Nimbus is currently being deployed on numerous projects in the US, UK, and the Netherlands.
Beyond offering extensive London market capacity through Nimbus’ panel of A-rated insurers from Lloyd’s and company markets and other leading facilities and products, Marsh’s Global Digital Infrastructure team provides extensive industry expertise — spanning construction, cybersecurity, energy, and power – that empowers clients throughout the digital infrastructure ecosystem to protect their capital, manage critical assets and grow with greater confidence and efficiency.
“Demand for more powerful and efficient data centers is accelerating technological innovation, particularly around AI and machine learning, which will revolutionize the way we live and work and reshape economic landscapes over the next decade,” commented Mike Mathews, global digital infrastructure leader, Marsh, in a statement.
“Marsh is helping clients in this sector work with communities to develop business strategies that will enable them to grow sustainably,” he added.
“By harnessing our global resources in critical interconnected areas such as capital management, construction, off-site power generation, environmental risk, and operational resilience, Marsh is enabling data center developers, operators, and owners to strengthen their delivery and resilience as we embrace the age of Industry 4.0.”
