Generali Offers Remote Facility Inspection for Firms Coping with COVID-19 Travel Bans

July 8, 2020

Generali’s P&C unit Global Corporate & Commercial (GC&C) Iberia & LatAm has developed a new system for remote facility inspection to address the consequences of COVID-19 and to provide value-added solutions for its corporate clients.

GC&C decided to respond to the current scenario where claim assessments are directly contingent on COVID-19 pandemic travel bans, which make on-site visits extremely challenging in times when insureds most need swift pay-outs.

The new system, developed to be implemented on a permanent basis as a risk management and analysis solution tool, offers a variety of remote facility inspections to meet the specific needs and resources of the client.

The remote inspection can be activated after the client receives a text message containing a link that allows them to send videos and pictures in real time and to start video calls to document the specific circumstances. There is no need to download an app. Other features include inviting third parties to leave comments.

The service is currently available to both existing and prospect clients in Spain and meets the needs of a broad spectrum of corporate and commercial clients. Virtual inspections may be supplemented with on-site visits when the complexity of the facility or the company’s exposure make physical visits preferable.
