New Specialty Re/Insurer Convex Authorized to Write Excess and Surplus Lines in U.S.
Convex Group, the Bermuda-based international specialty insurer and reinsurer, announces that its UK insurance subsidiary, Convex Insurance UK Ltd., has been added to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) Quarterly Listing of Alien Insurers with effect from Oct. 1, 2019.
This means that Convex will be able to write U.S. excess and surplus lines across the United States, explained the company.
Industry veterans Stephen Catlin and Paul Brand, colleagues for more than 30 years, announced on April 30 they had launched specialty re/insurer Convex Group. Over the past few months, the company has been busy getting its E&S licenses and putting its team in place.
As many of the talent the company wants to hire are on six months’ notice from their current employers, some are not yet working at Convex but will be at their desks in November in time for January 2020 renewals, according to Stephen Catlin, chairman, chief executive officer and co-founder, in an interview with Carrier Management.
