MGAA Launches Chrysalis Initiative for Next Generation of Insurance Professionals

April 23, 2018

The UK-based Managing General Agents’ Association (MGAA) hopes its launch of Chrysalis, a dedicated community for MGAs to share innovation and expertise, will represent the interests of the next generation of industry professionals.

The group sees Chrysalis encouraging change through greater collaboration and entrepreneurship through mentoring.

Membership for the Chrysalis group will be limited to members of the MGAA.

Formed in 2011, the MGAA aims to provide a better understanding of what MGAs are and the contribution they make to the insurance industry. The MGAA currently has 131 full members representing over £3.9bn of underwriting capacity. They are joined by 37 market practitioner members and 51 supplier members.

MGAA has created a steering group for Chrysalis that includes members from 10 leading MGAs in London and the regions. The group is chaired by Katherine Snedden, head of Compliance at DUAL Corporate Risks Ltd.

“Chrysalis will be much more than a networking group for MGAs. We want to represent not only the views and insights of the next generation, but also promote ongoing discussion on the future of the sector,” Sneddd said. “We want to ensure that there is a platform for these individuals to speak on the sectors’ most impactful developments and potential disruptions. There is so much knowledge that can be gleaned from past, present and future members of the MGA sector, and Chrysalis aims to be a community that not only fosters engaging discussion but also creates action to support all in the sector.”

Peter Staddon, managing director of the MGAA, said the group exists not only to support career development, but also to enable those in the sector to benefit and learn from combined experience.
