Lloyd’s Market Association Names New Board Members for 2018

The Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA) has announced four new members of its board, following a recent nomination process.

Effective from the annual general meeting to be held on May 31, 2018, one new and three re-appointed board members are:

  • David Croom-Johnson, managing director, AEGIS Managing Agency Ltd. (newly appointed)
  • Stephen Eccles, chief underwriting officer, Argo Managing Agency Ltd.
  • Richard Harries, chief executive officer, Atrium Underwriters Ltd.
  • Matthew Shaw, president, Chubb Global Markets

All four will serve a term of three years. Neil Maidment, chief underwriting officer, Beazley, will continue as chairman of the LMA.

In addition, the LMA has co-opted Hannah Purves, claims director at Markel and deputy chair of the LMA Claims Committee, to the board. Claims modernization is currently a top priority for the LMA and the appointment of Purves will reinforce the board’s expertise, said the LMA.

David Gittings, the LMA’s chief executive, said: “I would like to welcome David and Hannah to the board, and congratulate the other re-appointed members. The board continues to be made up of influential leading figures in the Lloyd’s market.”

  • Matthew Wilson, group CEO, Brit Ltd.

Formed in 2001 and located in the Lloyd’s building in the City of London, the LMA represents the interests of the Lloyd’s underwriting community. All underwriting businesses at Lloyd’s are members, together managing gross premium income of around £30 billion ($42 billion) per annum.
