Insured Losses for Europe’s Storm Burglind/Eleanor Rise to €680M ($837.8M): PERILS
The estimate of insured losses from Europe’s windstorm Burglind, also known as Eleanor, have risen to €680 million (US$837.8 million), according to PERILS, the Zurich-based organization that provides industry-wide catastrophe insurance data.
This second loss estimate for Burglind has risen from PERILS’ first estimate of €643 million ($792.2 million), released in February.
Windstorm Burglind affected the British Isles and the European continent on Jan. 2-3, 2018, said PERILS, explaining that the majority of the losses occurred in France, Germany and Switzerland.
In line with the PERILS loss reporting schedule, the following third loss estimate will be released on July 2, 2018, six months after the event.
