Newline Group Establishes Branch Office (and EU Platform) in Germany
London-based Newline Insurance Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of Odyssey Re Holdings, announced it has received regulatory approval to establish a new branch office in Cologne, Germany.
Led by Manuel Wirtz, who was appointed general representative in October, this new office will begin underwriting financial lines with immediate effect, followed by general liability and marine cargo & specie later in 2017.
“Germany is an important market for Newline, one which we are keen to grow further by having a local presence,” said Carl Overy, CEO of Newline Group. “This strategic move further demonstrates our commitment to Germany and gives us a platform within the EU for potential expansion into neighboring territories.”
Newline Group is a specialty insurance group that operates through two underwriting platforms, Newline Syndicate 1218 at Lloyd’s and Newline Insurance Co. Ltd. From its headquarters in London, offices in Manchester, Cologne, Singapore, Melbourne and Malaysia, and presence at Lloyd’s China in Shanghai, Newline underwrites international casualty and cargo business in more than 80 countries around the world.
