Aspen Insurance Appoints Cohen as President and Chief Underwriting Officer

Bermuda-headquartered Aspen Insurance Holdings Limited announced the appointment of David Cohen as president and chief underwriting officer of its insurance segment, Aspen Insurance.

With over 35 years of insurance industry experience, Cohen was most recently at Liberty International Underwriters (LIU) where he was president U.S. and global casualty chief underwriting officer. Prior to this, he was president, casualty division, Great American Insurance Company for five years and before that, he worked in the excess casualty division at The Home Insurance Company for 10 years. He began his career at American International Group in 1980.

Cohen will be a member of Aspen’s group executive team and report to Mario Vitale, chief executive officer of Aspen’s insurance segment.

As president, Cohen will work with Vitale to further develop and implement the overall business strategy of Aspen Insurance, accelerating the growth of the business, Aspen said in a statement.

As chief underwriting officer, Cohen will oversee segment business plans and pricing models, support business development activity and act as a referral authority for underwriting risks, the company said.
