Blenkinsopp Named XL Catlin’s Chief Underwriting Officer, Political Risk Team
XL Catlin announced the promotion of Joe Blenkinsopp to the position of chief underwriting officer for its Political Risk and Trade Credit (PRTC) team.
Blenkinsopp assumes the role with immediate effect, having previously held the position of deputy global head of the PRTC team.
In his new role, Blenkinsopp will be responsible for managing a team of political risk and trade credit underwriters globally. He is based in London and reports to Neil Robertson, XL Catlin’s chief executive of global specialty.
Blenkinsopp joined XL, now XL Catlin, when the PRTC team was formed in 2011, said Robertson in a comment about the appointment. “With over 25 years of experience in the insurance industry and having previously held senior leadership and management positions in global underwriting and broking firms, Joe is well positioned to lead our PRTC team into the future for the newly formed XL Catlin,” he said.
Blenkinsopp assumes the role from Richard Maxwell who will be leaving the company following four years of service.
Robertson commented: “I want to thank Richard for his contributions to building a globally recognized and respected team and wish him all the best in the future.”
