Ironshore Names Scully Global Chief Actuary

Ironshore Inc. announced that Mark Scully has been named Global Chief Actuary, to be based in the New York office. He will be responsible for overseeing Ironshore’s global actuarial team, reporting to Kevin H. Kelley, CEO of the Bermuda-based specialty property and casualty insurance company.

Scully has been a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society since 1987. He joins Ironshore after having served in this position with Chartis, where he managed the global actuarial staff of 360 professionals. “His nearly 30 year career spans leadership positions developing risk capital methodology, reserving and pricing analysis procedures for property/casualty and life actuarial risks,” said the announcement.

Scully has also been the Global Chief Actuary for Allianz SE, based in Munich Germany, for over nine years. Previously, he was a partner with Tilllinghast-Towers Perrin from 1998 to 2001, and founder of the company’s property and casualty practice in Germany.

Kelley welcomed Scully to Ironshore, noting his “professional stature’ and his role in its “management team to develop a first-class global actuarial function.” He added that Scully’s “expertise in understanding actuarial risk and proven abilities in managing this exacting discipline will prove invaluable as Ironshore continues to build upon its expanding global insurance platform.”

Scully is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries and is a Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst.
