Liberty International Sponsors UK Charity Soccer Match
The Teenage Cancer Trust and the Make a Wish Foundation have benefitted to the tune of £22,500 [$36,461] – £15,000 [$24,305] and £7,500 $12,152] respectively – following a charity football (soccer) match organized by Liberty International Underwriters, the Liberty Mutual Group’s international division.
The game, which took place at Charlton Athletic’s Valley ground, was a close one between two teams of brokers and underwriters assembled by LIU’s London Market Directors’ & Officers’ and the Financial Institutions divisions; resulting in a 4 to 3 win for the FI team.
Keith Mather, Senior Vice President D&O / FI commented: “The FI players were just too fleet of foot for D&O although both teams were hampered by questionable choices of football strip. While the inaugural Turf Trophy was hard fought for, the real winners were the two nominated charities.” He added that the even had targeted raising a total of £10,000 [$16,203]; however it “more than doubled that total.”
Mather thanked “all those individuals in the insurance market who donated money and their time as well as major sponsors including Anokha, Beach, Advisen, Etana, GHC and Crowell and Moring.”
