Cooke to Head Lloyd’s Marketform Marine Cargo Underwriting
London-based specialist Lloyd’s insurer Marketform announced that experienced London Market underwriter Gary Cooke will join the company effective June first, as head of Marine Cargo Underwriting.
“After two years at the Bank of England, Cooke joined Lloyd’s in 1980 and spent 11 years with Sturge syndicate 206, followed by the Pieri syndicate, before joining the predecessors of the Talbot syndicate in 1994 where he became an established cargo underwriter,” said the bulletin.
Stephen Barr, Marine Director at Marketform commented: “This is a significant appointment for Marketform. The addition of a cargo underwriter of Gary’s caliber to our team greatly augments our marine product offering and means that we now have well established and reputable underwriters heading up all of our new classes.”
Among many specialist lines, Marketform also underwrites medical malpractice, general liability, professional indemnity, directors and officers, property, bloodstock, personal accident and political risk insurance. The American Financial Group [Great American] became the company’s majority shareholder in 2007.
