Marsh UK Consolidates Manchester Operations with Mercer

August 16, 2010

Marsh & McLennan’s UK Marsh and Mercer divisions announced the consolidation of their Manchester operations into one location.

The companies also announced that they “have signed a 10-year lease to occupy office space in Belvedere House, a new city centre development in Booth Street.”

The bulletin stressed that the new facility “has been highly-rated under the BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method) rating for low environmental impact.”

The two companies operations in Manchester are “currently spread across three locations in Clarence Street, Booth Street and City Road East. The lease of three floors in Belvedere House will provide accommodation for approximately 400 employees, with the move expected to be completed in early 2011.”

Marsh UK CEO Martin South commented: “Our move into this prestigious development underscores both our commitment to our clients in Manchester and the ambitious growth plans we have for our business in the area. As well as reducing our carbon footprint, the co-location of Marsh and Mercer will benefit clients through even closer collaboration.”

Alan Whalley, CEO of Mercer UK, added: “Manchester is the centre for one of our largest and most diverse regional operations in the UK. Bringing all our experts together in one flagship centre will be of great benefit to our teams and our clients, enabling us to provide a more extensive range of fully integrated services.”
