Zurich Foundation Endows New Risk and Insurance Professorship
Zurich Financial Services Group announced that its Z Zurich Foundation has signed an agreement with ETH Zürich to endow a new professorship for Risk and Insurance Economics in the field of Integrative Risk Management.
“This emerging discipline seeks to establish an integrated view of the diverse risks economies, enterprises and individuals face, and to develop ways to assess and improve the understanding of such risks and their interdependencies,” said the bulletin.
“With the endowment of the new ETH professorship in Risk and Insurance Economics we aim to contribute to basic research in the field of integrative risk management. The endowment will allow ETH to combine know-how and research expertise to gain important insights into questions that will confront the insurance industry in coming years”, explained CEO Martin Senn, who is also the Chairman of the Foundation’s Board.
The new professorship will be established as part of the Centre for Integrative Risk Management. This endowment by the Foundation is an important step for the ETH allowing it to further accelerate its integrative risk management initiative and involves a donation of two tranches of CHF 3 million [$2.824 million], payable over 3 years per tranche.
