Tornadoes Hit UK; Some Property Damage Reported
A series of tornadoes swept through parts of England Monday, tearing off roofs and bringing down trees, the national weather office and authorities said.
Homeowners in the counties of Warwickshire, Bedfordshire and Hampshire reported damage to houses caused by the surging high winds. There were no reports of injuries.
“The weather conditions at the time were conducive to tornadoes,” said a spokeswoman for the Met Office, speaking on condition of anonymity in line with weather service policy.
“Telegraph poles and trees were uprooted and houses suffered structural damage,” said a spokeswoman for Hampshire Police, speaking on condition of anonymity in line with force policy.
