Aon Appoints Roberts ‘Global Practice Leader’ for Power

Aon Corporation has appointed Hamish Roberts as Global Practice Leader for its power business. He will lead the global power strategy with an immediate focus on building Aon’s strength and capabilities in the industry sector in the UK and the Americas.

Roberts has more than 20 years of experience in the insurance industry. He was responsible for the successful growth of JLT’s global power business over the last three years. Prior to joining JLT, he was managing director at Marsh UK, where he led their power practice group.

Roberts will be based in London and will join Aon once he has fulfilled his contractual obligations to JLT.

Steve McGill, chief executive of Aon Global and Aon Risk Services Americas, seemed particularly pleased by Roberts’ arrival. He praised his “proven track record in the natural resources arena,” and indicated he would help build on “an area of strength within our organization and will allow us to deliver even greater distinctive value to our power clients around the world.”

Rob Woods, CEO of Aon Natural Resources & Construction, noted his admiration for Roberts “as a competitor,” and looks forward to having him as part of Aon’s power team.
