Nigerian Jetliner Crash Claims More than 100 Lives in Port Harcourt
Officials in Nigeria reported Saturday that at least 103 people were killed when a passenger jet went down in stormy weather while attempting to land in the city of Port Harcourt. There were reports that less than a dozen people survived the crash of the Sosoliso Airlines DC-9.
This accident comes on the heels of several near-misses at Nigerian airports and one major accident in recent months.
Two months ago, an Abuja-bound Boeing 737-200 went down following a take off from the airport at Lagos. That crash claimed 117 people on board the Bellview Airlines flight.
Sosoliso Airlines was established in 1994 and travels to six Nigerian cities.
