Swiss Re to Host Conference on Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Swiss Re will host a two-day conference at the at the American Museum of Natural History in New York on July 17 and 18 focusing on the role of greenhouse gas emissions in causing climate change.

“The conference will examine the government’s approach to emissions reductions, and look at how both the financial industry and legal community view climate change and emissions reduction obligations,” said the company’s announcement. It will also “highlight opportunities and challenges associated with integrating climate change into corporate enterprise carbon risk management.”

Panelists will include Eileen Claussen, President, Pew Center on Climate Change; John Manzoni, Group Vice President, British Petroleum; Theodore Roosevelt IV, Managing Director, Lehman Brothers, and Dr. Paul Epstein, Center for Health and Global Environment, Harvard Medical School.

The second day of the conference will feature workshops “focusing on corporate risk mitigation and voluntary commitments, coordinated by Swiss Re, AON, the World Economic Forum, the Coalition for Environmentally Responsible Economics (CERES), the Pew Center and the World Wildlife Fund,” said the announcement.
