SCOR 2000 Premium Volume Up
French reinsurer SCOR S.A. has reported a 14.5 percent increase in premium volume to 3.5 billion euros ($3.30 billion) in 2000.
Prior to publication of its complete annual results in March, the Paris-based group announced Monday that its life, accident and health division saw a 19.5 percent increase in premiums to 1.07 billion euros ($1.01 billion).
The formation of SCOR Life RE U.S. in 2000 was an important step in the development of this sector of its business according to company reports. The group’s property/casualty premium volume was down from 1999, with property/casualty premium volume falling 9 percent from the 1.31 billion euros ($1.23 billion) recorded for 1999.
Premium volume from nontraditional, or alternative risk transfer, business rose by 67 percent to 607 million euros ($572.0 million).
