NAIC: Int’l Effort To Settle Holocaust Claims

Lawrence Eagleburger, Chairman of the International Commission on Holocaust Era Insurance Claims (ICHEIC), announced the launch of a comprehensive international effort to resolve outstanding claims on insurance policies held by victims of the Holocaust. The ICHEIC was formed in 1998 by the U.S. National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and insurance regulators in Germany, Italy and France, as well as several Jewish organizations and the State of Israel, to bring closure to the issue of outstanding policies.

“This Commission was established to establish a ‘just process … that will expeditiously address the issue of unpaid insurance policies issued to victims of the Holocaust,” Eagleburger stated. “We are guided by the principle that we want to be able to say that we have done everything possible to reach all potential claimants and pay Holocaust-related insurance claims in a fair and expeditious manner.”|”naic:, int’l, effort, settle, holocaust, claims
