People Moves: Velocity CEO Rothfuss to Join Selective Insurance

Selective Insurance Group Inc., headquartered in Short Hills, New Jersey, hired Jacob E. “Jake” Rothfuss as executive vice president and president, standard lines. Rothfuss will lead Selective’s standard commercial lines and standard personal lines businesses and will report to John J. Marchioni, chairman, president and CEO. Rothfuss is expected to assume the role no later than April 2027 when his current contractual obligations end.

Rothfuss will join Selective from Velocity Risk Underwriters, part of Ryan Specialty Underwriting Managers, where he has served as CEO since 2023. He joined the organization in 2018 as chief operating officer and head of systematized risk and was appointed president in 2020. Earlier in his career, Rothfuss spent nearly a decade at Farmers Insurance, where he held a series of senior leadership positions culminating in chief operating officer of business insurance. Rothfuss began his insurance career at The Hartford, where he led various product lines across personal auto, homeowners, and small commercial.
