Arthur J. Gallagher Acquires New England’s Rowley Agency
Global insurance broker Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. announced it has acquired Concord, New Hampshire-based The Rowley Agency.
The Rowley Agency is a retail insurance broker providing property/casualty, surety and employee benefits products to commercial and personal lines clients primarily in New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine and Massachusetts. In addition to its headquarters in Concord, the agency has an office in West Lebanon and offices in Bennington, Vermont and Portland, Maine.
Dan Church, Gary Stevens and their team will remain in their current location under the direction of Brendan Gallagher, head of Gallagher’s Northeast region retail property/casualty brokerage operations, and John Neumaier, head of Gallagher’s East region employee benefits consulting and brokerage operations.
The Rowley Agency was founded by Joseph Rowley in 1966. In 1991, majority ownership transitioned to Church (CEO) and Stevens (president).
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
J. Patrick Gallagher, Jr., chairman and CEO, cited the Rowley Agency’s experience in niches including construction, manufacturing and healthcare as enhancing Gallagher’s existing capabilities as it continue to expand in New England.
