Runner Who Broke Arm on NYC Bridge Sues Port Authority

A New York man who broke his arm running on the George Washington Bridge is suing the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, alleging there’s not enough space for cyclists and pedestrians.

Dennis O’Donnell says he was headed back to Manhattan from Bergen County last year after a training run along the shared pedestrian and bike path. The Daily News reports O’Donnell was clipped by a cyclist and hurled to the ground.

O’Donnell said Tuesday that he broke his arm very badly; to the point that he has only regained about 75 percent of his arm function a year later.

O’Donnell is seeking compensation, but also says he hopes the lawsuit will compel the Port Authority to address safety concerns.

The Port Authority declined to comment.
