Fire Official Says Virginia Marina Fire Investigation Could Take Weeks
A fire official says the investigation into a marina fire in Henrico County that destroyed around a dozen boats will take days or weeks to complete.
Henrico fire Capt. Taylor Goodman tells the Richmond Times-Dispatch it is too early to speculate about whether the fire that broke out Friday morning at the Richmond Yacht Basin was arson. He says Henrico fire marshals will lead the investigation.
TV station WRIC reports hazmat crews were monitoring the James River to ensure no fuel was spilled. The station says property owners were to be allowed to access the marina at noon Saturday.
A neighbor reported the fire around 7 a.m. Friday and alerted people who were staying on their boats.
Some of the burning vessels drifted down the river and some sunk.
